Jeff’s journey to becoming a trusted Brooklyn knife sharpener is one of grit, growth, and second chances. Raised in a broken home with an alcoholic father and an absent mother, Jeff turned to addiction to cope with the pain of abandonment. But everything changed when he found Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Over the past 20 years, training became his path to discipline, healing, and personal transformation — culminating in earning his black belt at the renowned Renzo Gracie Academy in Manhattan.
As he matured, Jeff sought connection with his father by spending time at the family’s metal factory. There, he was first introduced to the craft of working with metal — learning how repetitive motion could evolve into skill, and how precision could create beauty. Years later, those lessons resurfaced when Jeff began sharpening his own kitchen knives. What started as a simple routine soon became a deep passion. He realized that being a knife sharpener wasn’t just about restoring edges — it was about restoring confidence in the kitchen.
Today, Jeff is the founder of Brooklyn Knife Sharpening, a local service built on trust, craftsmanship, and community. He’s the go-to knife sharpener for friends, neighbors, and now dozens of home cooks across South Brooklyn. Every knife he sharpens reflects his story — one of resilience, care, and mastery. For Jeff, this isn’t just a business. It’s a way to bring sharpness, purpose, and pride back into everyday kitchens.
